Hi guys,
Since DOL haven't done anything for a long time and the Medusa girls are working hard, it seemed appropriate to set up a new tribe...
I've invited plenty of people, but it might take a while to appear on tribe...if you would like to join, email me your address and I'll invite you!

Re: Jewellery and Events...
Thu, November 2, 2006 - 3:50 PMHi OyaDancer,
Saw your post - what type/style of silver jewellery are you doing? I was at an event for designer/makers in SE England the other day (held in Bexhill) about setting up a network for people to get their wares known and sold - about 80 people turned up and something will hopefully be coming out of it soon...
Also if you're anywhere near Hastings there's a beautiful exhibition of 3 Black artists that's on at St. Mary's-in-the Castle on seafront. Some of the work is influenced by Voudoun traditions. It's part of Black History Season and they're holding free workshops at weekends creating art and ceremonies on the theme of Ancestors and Faces of Nature...

Re: Jewellery and Events...
Fri, November 3, 2006 - 1:05 AMbrilliant to hear! I work in PMC/Artclay - usually with organic forms such as leaves and flowers; there's loads of scope with that however to make all sorts of bits and bobs.
My website is still a work in progress as I'm currently trying to get several flower hairpieces completed (son was out of nursery for halfterm so work came to a halt!) but you can find it at www.silvergiltjewelry.com.
I'm hoping to hit up the events and things in the coming year and would like to hear about the event in Bexhill if you could point me to a link.
For now, have to dash!
Namaste

Re: Jewellery and Events...
Fri, November 3, 2006 - 10:09 AMHi OyaD,
Wow! I had a look at your jewellery - gorgeous! I loved your ivy and the mysterious masks... Do you make them for the Dark Masquerade?
It's funny, early yesterday I was looking at a website that featured a silversmith doing beautiful work, very organic and flowing - here's a link:
www.themaking.org.uk/makers/
About the events, they're on this weekend from 11 to 2.30 in Hastings on London Road, at the parish hall of Mary Magdelene/ Christchurch with Irene Abena Adoma Mensah (Ceremony and Creativity) and Sunday is Rafael Barrio at St. Mary's in the Castle on seafront from 1 to 4pm. Both are free. There isn't a website, but if you need more info, just ask,

Re: Jewellery and Events...
Fri, November 3, 2006 - 2:11 PMYes the masks are prototypes for the Masquerade - the ivy was just an experiment and has given a few people ideas for the ball. The next project is the bloodrose (which needs finishing) and silver buttons for my ballgown. In between, I'll discover cold fusion...
And I LOVE that smith's work, absolutely brilliant thanks for that.
I can't make these events this week (single mum dontchaknow) but I will try and keep posted, I'd like to try and get out a bit and wash the PMC clay off sometime
