On a more positive note - Fran (Francesca) made me some purple and black wooly hair falls with sparkly bits which are very groovy!
Fran, you should sell some, mate! Advertise them on tribe.net!

Mon, March 21, 2005 - 6:32 PMMmm, I could make them to sell, but it's difficult for me to post photos. When I've got my Paypal account sorted, I may sell them on e-Bay.
Heike, have you worn your purple ones yet?

Re: Hair falls!
Fri, March 25, 2005 - 11:45 AMNo, I am waiting for someone to show me how to do it myself.....any volunteers?
As you know, I have lost my voice and possibly email; however, sending messages on www.tribe.net seems to work!

Mon, March 28, 2005 - 12:41 PMBring them to rehearsal on Wednesday with a pair of toes cut off the end of an old pair of tights and about 4 hairbands and some hairgrips, and I'll show you how to put them in. -

Re: Hair falls!
Sat, June 4, 2005 - 6:22 AMHi, tried to post this before but it didn't appear - apologies if it shows up as a repeat post at any point.
I love the falls you make (especially the red ones in the pic). I've only tried making Kanekalon braids so far but I'm going to have a go with some whacky yarns at some point.
I make mine on clips (the ones that look like bulldog clips) so that they're easy to attach. Hopefully we'll get to the point where we can change our costumes AND hair several times during a show (along with our cast of thousands and huge sets etc... lol) -

Re: Hair falls!
Sun, June 12, 2005 - 4:26 PMYeah, Heike and Marisa were talking about your fantastic falls on clips that you had at Tribal Ford! I'd love to see some photos sometime of how you attach the hair to the clips and hide the clips when worn. I am trying to imagine how that works and my imagination fails me!
I like my red falls but the wool is very heavy so I'm now making some out of roving bought off e-Bay - much lighter. Changing hair several times during a show - now THAT would be FABULOUS! (Of course along with Buz Berkley-scale choreographies etc!) -

Re: Hair falls!
Tue, June 14, 2005 - 5:31 AMHi,
I have a tapestry frame that I sit at. The clips hang from the top bar and I just make the first lot of braids directly onto the clip - threading one long piece of the fake hair between the 'teeth' so half is left hanging either side. So I'm actually making the braids from half the length of the hair. When the clip is full and I can't fit any more between the teeth, I start sewing them on using basic chain stitch which attaches them to the hair that's already wrapped round the clip.
Mine have then got lace sewn on to hide the clip and I've put flowers round them too :)
I'll try and get some pics

Hair falls - the continuing saga!
Thu, June 16, 2005 - 7:15 PMCool! I hide the fastenings of my hairfalls by wrapping or coiling a few falls around the fastening, and adding a few roses!
Photos would definitely be good. If you see the photo of me on Tribe.net with the hairfalls, you might get the idea of what I do.
But it's a case of trial and error with me. What works for some doesn't work for others, especially if you have fine hair like me & Heike - everything seems to slide off our hair! I've experimented with hairsocks covering my buns before putting the hairfalls on and that seems to work for me. -

Re: Hair falls - the continuing saga!
Fri, June 17, 2005 - 8:49 AMHeike's purple falls looked fab at the Saturday evening Hafla.
It is more difficult with fine hair but I'm quite lucky as I have quite fine, slippy individual hairs but there are masses of them so it's really thick.
Yep - photos are the only way to explain anything like this!
